Hanover, PA – Downtown Hanover has welcomed a new destination for antique lovers, collectors, and anyone who enjoys discovering something with a story. Hanover Memories & More, located at 43 Carlisle St., celebrated its grand opening on August 1, bringing more than 30 years of family experience in antiques, collectibles, and unique treasures to the heart of downtown.
The family-owned business is operated by Steve and Teresa Taylor, affectionately known as “Mom and Dad,” along with their three daughters, their significant others, and a dedicated team of employees they consider part of the family.
Main Street Hanover’s Marketing & Administrative Coordinator, Alex Brown, recently visited Hanover Memories & More to interview the owners and learn more about their family business, their passion for antiques, and their vision for their new Downtown Hanover location.
“We’re a family business, and we just really love antiquing,” the family shared. “We thought it would be great to start a business where we can share that love with the surrounding region.”
The Taylors said their decision to open in Downtown Hanover was an easy one.
“We just love the area. We really like the atmosphere and we’re happy to be a part of the Downtown Hanover family.”
Hanover Memories & More specializes in purchasing estates and collections, giving treasured items a second life by bringing them to market for new owners to enjoy. The business also offers a wide variety of antiques, collectibles, and other unique finds for shoppers to explore.
For the Taylors, the stories behind the items are just as important as the items themselves.
“Oh, that’s a hard one! To me, it’s not just one item. Every item in the shop has a history and when we acquire it, then eventually sell it, we hope for that story to live on in someone else.”
Honesty, fairness, and respect are at the center of the family’s approach to both buying and selling. The business believes in full transparency and does not hide defects from customers. When purchasing estates or collections, the Taylors understand that the process can be emotional and challenging, and they strive to make fair, honest offers while treating every transaction with care.
In addition to the brick-and-mortar shop, Hanover Memories & More also participates in Whatnot shows, giving customers another way to discover and purchase unique items from the business.
As the store continues to grow, the family is already looking toward the future. One potential goal is expanding the shop’s retail space to accommodate an increasing inventory.
“The main thing we’re thinking of right now is extending the actual shop. As we get more product, we want to fill up the back of the store so that it’s filled. We’re always looking for new opportunities.”
