Autumn in New York’s Adirondack Park is pretty spectacular. The lush forests explode with color, and excellent viewpoints abound. With just a little effort you can reach some of the best spots. This photo of the sun rising above Giant Mountain required a hike in the morning darkness to the top of Owl’s Head near Keene, NY. Arriving as the sky started to lighten, we set up our cameras on a large rock ledge just below the peak and waited for the show. It didn’t last long, but it was definitely worth the effort.
