Texas is a state often admired for its vibrant spring flowers but not often associated with rich autumn colors. In late October 2022, I hiked Guadalupe Mountains National Park for a couple of days in search of autumn foliage. Part of the Devil’s Hall Trail runs up the rocky wash of Pine Springs Canyon, flanked by soaring rock walls. It was here that I found the autumn colors of Texas.
