Open House -Mason Dixon Distillery 3/31/2020


Ray talks with Yianni Barakos, owner and operator of Mason Dixon Distillery in Gettysburg. Though they had to shut their doors to the public amid the Corona Virus outbreak Yianni focused his knowledge of distilling toward making hand sanitizer for area health organizations. Adams County Community Foundation’s Covid-19 Call-In Summary

Adams County Community Foundation recently held a community callin on Covid-19 and Adams County titled “Coronavirus Can’t Shut Down Philanthropy”.  Ralph Serpe of the Community Foundation and leaders of other key Adams County community institutions including Adams Economic Alliance, The Chamber, Gettysburg Times, Pennsylvania Interfaith Community Programs, South Central Community Action Programs, United Way of Adams County, Upper Adams School District, and Wellspan Gettysburg Hospital/Wellspan Health gave brief updates on what their organizations are doing to address this public health crisis. For those who weren’t able to participate we spoke with Mr. Serpe to provide a summary of the conference.

Open House – St. Teresa of Calcutta Catholic School – 3/24/2020


Ray speaks with Crystal Noel, Principal of St. Teresa of Calcutta Catholic School. They aren’t letting the Coronavirus stop education. The school quickly created a learn from home program to provide guided learning for their students when the ‘stay at home’ order was given.

Special Meeting – Gettysburg Borough Council – 3/19/2020

The Borough Council of the Borough of Gettysburg holds a special meeting on Thursday, March 19, 2020 commencing at 11:00 A.M., prevailing time, in the Amphitheater located at the Gettysburg Area Recreation Park, 545 Long Lane, Gettysburg, PA 17325. The purpose of the special meeting is for the Borough Council to consider the ratification and extension of the Declaration of Disaster Emergency issued and proclaimed on March 16, 2020 by Theodore H. Streeter, Mayor of the Borough of Gettysburg, and to consider and act upon any ancillary matters and related items of business that may be brought before the Borough Council.

The Center For Youth and Community Development C21 Learning Programs

The Center For Youth and Community Development (CFYCD) offers FREE academic afterschool programs onsite for students in grades K-12 throughout Adams County and outlying areas. Our staff work with school personnel to reinforce school day lessons, while providing homework help, tutoring, and academic enrichment activities. We focus on providing safe and supportive environments where children can experience fun, hands-on learning. Each site offers: STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art and math); nutrition and fitness; positive behavior reinforcement, and more.

Adams County Historical Society -Three Lost Buildings in Gettysburg


This ACHS lecture features Gettysburg buildings that were significant to the community but are now lost to time. Speakers for this lecture include Jean Green, Lisa Malandra-Shower, and Jane Malone. All three are longtime ACHS volunteers and seasoned historical researchers.

Dancing With The Local Stars 2020


Local stars compete for the top dancer bragging rights. All proceeds benefit the YWCA Gettysburg & Adams County and Adams County Arts Council.
