Gettysburg Juneteenth Weekend 2026

Gettysburg will host a weekend of free community events on June 19–20 in celebration of Juneteenth, bringing together local history, music, storytelling, film, and community engagement.
The Gettysburg Juneteenth Weekend features activities across multiple locations throughout the borough, highlighting Black history, creativity, and cultural heritage while inviting residents and visitors to reflect on freedom, remembrance, and community connection.
Friday, June 19 Events
Pop-Up Market
Location: Rec Park
Time: 4:00 PM – 6:00 PM
Local vendors, artisans, and community organizations will gather for an open-air market celebrating culture, creativity, and connection.
Lincoln Cemetery Program
Location: Lincoln Cemetery
Time: 6:30 PM – 8:00 PM
This evening program will honor Gettysburg’s Black community members and veterans through reflections, historical recognition, candlelight illumination, and Taps.
Cinema Under the Stars: Glory (1989)
Location: Rec Park
Speakers: 8:15 PM
Film Begins: At dusk
Community members are invited to bring a chair and enjoy an outdoor screening of Glory, the acclaimed film telling the story of the 54th Massachusetts Infantry Regiment.
Saturday, June 20 Events
Black History Walking Tour + Living Portraits of Freedom
Location: Valentine Hall + Seminary Ridge
Time: 10:00 AM – 2:00 PM
Participants can explore Gettysburg’s Black history through a guided walking tour followed by immersive first-person storytelling from historical interpreters.
Emancipation Proclamation Program
Location: Christ Lutheran Church
Time: 3:00 PM – 4:00 PM
Music, readings, and historical interpretation will encourage reflection on the meaning of freedom and the legacy of the Emancipation Proclamation.
From Spirituals to Soul: 250 Years of Black Music
Location: Majestic Theater
Market: 5:00 PM
Show: 6:30 PM
This celebration of 250 years of Black music will feature a Black-owned business pop-up market, performances by local artists, and acclaimed jazz vocalist Allan Harris.
Admission is free, but tickets are required.
America 250th Juneteenth Time Capsule Project
Community members are also invited to participate in the America 250th Juneteenth Time Capsule Project, an initiative encouraging people to share their voices and preserve stories for future generations.
