Catherine Wallen announces run the 193rd Legislative District seat

Catherine Wallen addressed attendees, during a gathering, at the Dobbin House this morning, to announce her candidacy for the 193rd District seat. Wallen spoke about her roots in Adams County, her family’s long-standing connection to the community, and a life shaped by service and hard work.

A lifelong resident of York Springs, Wallen shared that she and her husband, David, raised their three children locally, with multiple generations graduating from Bermudian Springs. She highlighted her family’s commitment to service, including careers in health care, and the United States military, and expressed pride in the values those experiences represent.

Wallen reflected on her professional background, including 20 years in health care working closely with cancer patients and their families, an experience she said reinforced the importance of compassion, accountability, and being present for others. She also discussed her eight years serving as district director for the 193rd Legislative District with former Rep. Torren Ecker, where her work focused on assisting constituents, supporting local organizations, and working with communities across the region.

Wallen also spoke about owning and operating Orchard Views LLC, a family farm business in York Springs, noting the insight it has given her into the challenges facing small businesses and agriculture. Wallen concluded by thanking attendees and community members for their continued involvement and commitment to Adams County.

A special election will be held on March 17, 2026, to fill the vacant Pennsylvania State Representative seat for the 193rd Legislative District, which includes parts of Adams and Cumberland counties.

The vacancy occurred after the former representative, Republican Torren Ecker, resigned on December 30, 2025, to assume his new role as an Adams County Court of Common Pleas judge, to which he was elected in November 2025
