Tour Ms. Hettie’s Kitchen Garden

June 28 @ 10:00 am - 11:00 am
Tour Ms. Hettie’s Kitchen Garden
Sunday, June 28th, 10-11 a.m.
Shriver House Museum, 307 Baltimore St., Gettysburg

Have you ever wanted to know what civilians would have grown in their garden during the Civil War?

Today, Hettie Shriver’s garden has been transported to the past, and features the herbs, plants and vegetables that Hettie would have grown herself in 1863.

Join Shriver House Tour Guide & Gardener, Gayle Underwood, for a morning spent in Hettie’s garden discussing historic plants, herbal remedies, & gardening techniques. Light refreshments will be provided. You are welcome to bring a chair or stool. In the event of rain or inclement weather, the discussion will be held into the Garden Room, just behind the Shriver House Gift Shop.

All participants will receive a plant from the garden to take home.

This event will take place Sunday, June 28th from 10 to 11 a.m. at the Shriver House Museum, 307 Baltimore Street. Tickets cost $15 for youth, $18 for Gettysburg History members, and $20 for general adult admission. Reserve your tickets here.
