Devil’s Den is one of the most famous geological features of the American Civil War. The scene of bloody fighting on July 2, 1863, the area was a popular local picnic area even prior to the war. During the post- war years, Devil’s Den became one of the most visited sites associated with the battle. Join historian Timothy H. Smith as he discusses the legend and lore, the battle action, and continued popularity of one of Gettysburg most iconic places.
Free for Gettysburg History members; $10/general admission. Registration is required for this program. The program will be held in the Battlefield Overlook Event Center, 625 Biglerville Road, Gettysburg.
