Ready for your 15 minutes of fame? Are you a performer or member of a performance group – choir, orchestra, acting company, etc.? Or are you active in a non-profit organization – social, human, or emergency services, or local government, for example? Then you should take advantage of Community Showcase, a 25-hour, live, on-air program to be broadcast by Community Media (formerly ACTV) starting at 8am on Saturday, June 8.
Community Showcase will be a celebration of Community Media’s 25 years serving 40,000 subscribers in Adams and York Counties with a focus on regional public, education, and government (PEG) programming. It broadcasts on Comcast channel 12 in Adams County and channel 240 in York County; the programs are also streamed on the internet and available in an archive at CommunityMedia.net.
Performers and performing groups are invited to give a 15-minute, in-studio performance. Non-profits are invited for a 15-minute presentation to inform the community about their mission and activities. Each performer/group and non-profit will receive a DVD of their time on camera.
Community Showcase will be hosted by Ron Harris and Jim Krut, President and Vice President of Community Media, and there will be interviews with personalities from Community Media’s regular programs, including Community Focus, Race Night, You Gotta Have Art, Pet Talk, and Sports Chat. Clips from shows during the past 25 years of broadcasting will be introduced by Ray Gouker, the founder of ACTV.
