SUMMARY:Breaking Bread with Heroes Breakfast
DESCRIPTION:Pull up a chair. Operation Honor: Rural Salute and the Robert Irvine Foundation are bringing Breaking Bread with Heroes to Gettysburg\, and this is the opposite of another town hall. It’s a free\, sit-down breakfast for veterans\, service members\, first responders\, spouses\, and families. Real food\, real conversation\, no red tape. \nThis is a morning to refill the tank. Good food\, and a room full of people who understand the parts of service that don’t always get talked about. \nThe morning includes a suicide prevention training: practical\, approachable skills anyone can use to recognize when a fellow veteran\, friend\, or family member is struggling\, and to help connect them to support. Rural veterans too often carry these burdens far from help. This is about making sure our community has the tools to show up for one another. \nSeating is limited. Every seat is spoken for the moment you register\, so please only reserve a spot if you truly plan to be there. If your plans change\, cancel so a fellow veteran can take your seat. \nAnd don’t just come for breakfast. Right after\, at 11 AM\, the full Operation Honor: Rural Salute community day kicks off at the Gettysburg Area Rec Park with vendors\, resource organizations\, music\, family activities\, and more\, running until 6 PM. The whole day was built for you. \nHACC Gettysburg Campus Room 130. July 25. 9 AM. Breakfast is free\, but registration is required so we can prepare enough food.

SUMMARY:36th Annual Peach Festival
DESCRIPTION:This festival will have you feeling “just peachy” all weekend long. \nBiglerville\, PA – Hollabaugh Bros.\, Inc. will be hosting their 36th Annual Peach Festival on Saturday\, August 8th and Sunday\, August 9th between 12-4 p.m. \nThe annual festival is a celebration of all things peach and so much more. For generations\, families have marked the second weekend in August as the time to come to the farm to celebrate the bounty of the harvest season and make lifelong memories. In addition to fresh peaches and produce\, the annual festival boasts its signature peach ice cream\, peach sugar cake milkshakes\, fresh peach sundaes\, and peach pie a-la- mode. Samples of some of the farm market’s most popular peach products will be available\, along with a selection of fresh peaches and apples. \nFestival attendees can also enjoy a wagon ride through the orchards and take home a bouquet of cut-your-own flowers. Come hungry and enjoy lunch from the United Way of Adams County's food tent\, Bricker’s Famous French Fries\, Travelin’ Tom’s Coffee Truck\, Tacos Monarca\, and Auntie Anne’s while listening to live music. On Saturday\, Across the Pond will delight you with acoustic Celtic/ folk music\, and on Sunday\, all the way from West Virginia\, Billy and the Curly Brothers will be here with a mix of Celtic\, bluegrass\, and classic rock. Face painting by professional artist\, Yu Li will be available both days. Several local artisan vendors will also be set up selling their wares both afternoons. Kids can enjoy a new suite of free yard games in “The Patch.” \nDue to the unprecedented spring freeze that reduced the overall peach crop on the Hollabaugh farm\, customers may not find the same number of peach varieties they are accustomed to. However\, there will still be plenty of farm-fresh peaches for everyone who attends. \nThere is no admission fee to attend the festival. There is a $5 parking fee that will benefit organizations providing volunteers to help staff our festival. Visit hollabaughbros.com for a complete lineup of events\, vendors\, and festivals on the farm. \nHollabaugh Bros. Fruit Farm and Market is located in Biglerville\, just 10 minutes north of Historic Gettysburg\, PA. The market can be reached at 717-677-8412.

SUMMARY:Gettysburg Connections to Custer's Last Stand
DESCRIPTION:Saturday\, Aug. 8 from 2 to 3 p.m.\nBattlefield Overlook Event Center\, 625 Biglerville Road\, Gettysburg\n \n\nThe battles of Gettysburg and Little Bighorn remain the two most studied military engagements in American history. The colorful and controversial George Armstrong Custer was at the center of both events. Custer’s Civil War fame began at Gettysburg but his death along the Little Bighorn River thirteen years later has stirred historical debates for more than a century. Yet Custer was not the only link between these two iconic battles. Several other men served in both campaigns\, some lost their lives\, and at least two participants had ties to Adams County and the surrounding region. \nAs the summer of 2026 marks the 150th anniversary of the Battle of Little Bighorn\, join Gettysburg Licensed Battlefield Guide and author James Hessler for an exploration of these connected stories. This program will highlight the soldiers who fought at both Gettysburg and Little Bighorn\, examine the local connections\, and discuss how their experiences helped shape the legacy of “Custer’s Last Stand.” \nRegistration is required. Gettysburg History Members are free and non-members are $10. This event will be held Saturday\, August 8th from 2 to 3 p.m. at the Beyond the Battle Museum\, Battlefield Overlook Event Center\, 625 Biglerville Road\, Gettysburg. Reserve your tickets here.
