SUMMARY:Gettysburg Choral Society Announces Final Auditions for Landmark 10th Anniversary Season
DESCRIPTION:GETTYSBURG\, Pa. — The Gettysburg Choral Society is inviting experienced singers\, especially tenors and\nsopranos\, to audition for its milestone 10th Anniversary Season\, with the final audition date scheduled\nfor Monday\, August 17\, from 7:00–9:00 p.m. by appointment. \nThis extraordinary season offers singers the opportunity to participate in two exceptional performances that\ncombine artistic excellence with national historical significance. \nOn November 19\, 2026\, The Gettysburg Choral Society will serve as the official chorus for a once-in-a-lifetime\nre-creation of Abraham Lincoln’s Gettysburg Address. The event will recreate the original November 19\, 1863\nceremony as closely as possible\, featuring the chorus performing two selections from the original program\naccompanied by a re-enactment Marine band in period uniforms using period instruments. Acclaimed\nactor Billy Campbell\, who portrayed Lincoln in the television docudrama Killing Lincoln\, will portray the 16th\npresident during the ceremony. The event will serve as the culmination of a four-day commemoration\ncelebrating Gettysburg’s enduring place in American history. \nThe season continues with The Gettysburg Choral Society’s 10th Anniversary Christmas Concerts on Saturday\,\nDecember 5\, at 7:00 p.m. and Sunday\, December 6\, at 3:00 p.m. at the United Lutheran Seminary Chapel in\nGettysburg. These festive performances will feature a professional brass quintet and the world premiere of a\nnew Christmas work by acclaimed composer Mark Hayes\, written especially for The Gettysburg Choral Society\nand scored for chorus\, organ\, and brass. \nThe Gettysburg Choral Society welcomes experienced singers ages 18 and older who have prior choral\nexperience\, can read music\, and demonstrate vocal proficiency. Rehearsals are held Monday evenings from\n7:00–9:00 p.m. in Gettysburg. Professional singers and students pursuing music degrees may be eligible for\nstipends. \n“Whether you’re looking for a rewarding musical challenge\, the opportunity to perform significant choral\nrepertoire\, or the chance to be part of two unforgettable events\, this is a season unlike any other\,” said Julie\nStrickland\, Executive Director of The Gettysburg Choral Society. “We encourage qualified singers to take\nadvantage of this final opportunity to join us.” \nAuditions are by appointment only. To schedule an audition\, email julie@gettysburgchoralsociety.org \nFor additional information about the Gettysburg Choral Society\, visit gettysburgchoralsociety.org
