Veterans Day Special Discount by The Gettysburg Foundation

The Gettysburg Foundation is pleased to announce a special discount on Veterans Day, Nov. 11, 2023. To honor our U.S. military for their service, veterans and active-duty service members are invited to enjoy free admission to both of the Foundation’s experiences located in downtown Gettysburg. The Veterans Day free admission will be offered at the children’s interactive history museum adventure, Children of Gettysburg 1863®, and the virtual reality experience in the historic Gettysburg Lincoln Railroad StationTMTicket to the Past—Unforgettable Journeys. U.S. military veterans and active-duty personnel should show proof of veteran or active military status to obtain free admission tickets.

“We are forever grateful to our U.S. military veterans and active-duty personnel for their service to our country,” said Wayne E. Motts, president and CEO of the Gettysburg Foundation. “We are glad to offer the special Veterans Day free admission as we honor our veterans and active-duty service members and have them enjoy these educational and inspirational experiences that tell stories of Gettysburg they may not have heard before,” added Motts.

Veterans and active-duty personnel can explore Gettysburg through the experiences and firsthand accounts of children, teens and young adults who lived in and near Gettysburg during the Battle of Gettysburg at Children of Gettysburg 1863®. Located at 451 Baltimore Street in downtown Gettysburg, Children of Gettysburg 1863® is open Noon until 5 p.m. on Veterans Day, and offers museum adventures every 30 minutes beginning at Noon, with the last adventure of the day at 4 p.m.

Veterans and active-duty personnel can choose to follow one of three historic figures who were unexpected occupants to the Gettysburg Lincoln Railroad StationTM during and after the 1863 battle through the help of virtual reality technology at Ticket to the PastUnforgettable Journeys. Visitors can also get a glimpse of our 16th President’s arrival to the station for the dedication of the national cemetery and feel the impact of Lincoln’s Gettysburg Address and the message in his speech that remains relevant today. Located at 35 Carlisle Street in downtown Gettysburg, Ticket to the PastUnforgettable Journeys is open 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. on Veterans Day, and offers virtual reality experiences every 20 minutes beginning at 9:20 a.m., with the last experience of the day at 4:20 p.m.

Free admission tickets for U.S. military veterans and active-duty personnel can be obtained at each venue or at the ticket counter inside the Gettysburg National Military Park Museum & Visitor Center located at 1195 Baltimore Pike, Gettysburg.
