Event Series Event Series: Beginner’s Birding Class

Beginner’s Birding Class

November 7 @ 6:30 pm - 8:00 pm

South Mountain Audubon Society and Eisenhower National Historic Site will be collaborating to present a Beginner’s Birding Course. All ages and ability groups are welcome! There will be two 90-minute interactive classes, and a local field trip will be scheduled at a later date. The second class of the series will be held on November 14 – same location and time.

The first class will cover topics such as choosing and using binoculars and identifying body parts and field marks that are helpful when birding. (If you have binoculars, please bring them to the first class.) In the second class, we will explain and recommend field guides and apps for birding, share bird feeding tips, and discuss birding protocols and ethics. Both sessions will teach identification of common backyard birds found in south central Pennsylvania.

This two-part series is FREE of charge, but reservations are encouraged. To save your spot, please email us at: EISE_education@nps.gov.
